Elements GSM 2024

$32.00

Elements GSM 2024. Organic and vegan-friendly. 35% Grenache, 35% Shiraz and 30% Mataro from the Gnadenfrei North and Stone Well vineyards.

A captivating deep crimson colour, with a bouquet bursting with forest fruits, blueberry, raspberry and mulberry, accented by hints of cacao, dried herbs and lavender.

The palate is vibrant and elegant, showcasing a harmony of sweet fruit and savoury structure, enhanced by precise acidity and a textured finish.

The majority of the fruit was crushed into concrete fermenters, with selected parcels fermented on stalks and as whole bunches. Fermentation was conducted at cooler temperatures to preserve aromatics, with twice-daily pump overs to gently extract colour, tannin and structure. Once dry, the components were pressed to tank to complete malolactic fermentation, then blended and matured twelve months in seasoned hogsheads and foudre before filtering and bottling.

Vintage Notes

After a long and late 2023 vintage, 2024 vintage proved to be quite the opposite. Winter was 28 per cent below average rains and spring was even drier with only 48 per cent of average. The dry winter and spring made the vines work during the early part of the growing season, and bud burst started three weeks earlier than the year before.

With some rain, and slightly cooler than average days, December and early January saw vines flourish. Veraison in many vineyards was a month earlier than 2023. January finished with average temperatures, but in February, with no rain and the temperature 2°C above average, vines ripened quickly, and harvest was away.

In 2024, quality across the board looks exceptional from all the Tscharke Estate Vineyards, especially for Grenache and Grenache Blanc.

Winemaking

The blend comprises 35% Grenache, 35% Shiraz and 30% Mataro. All parcels were picked at optimal ripeness. The majority of the fruit was crushed into concrete fermenters, with selected parcels fermented on stalks and as whole bunches. Fermentation was conducted at cooler temperatures to preserve aromatics, with twice-daily pump overs to gently extract colour, tannin and structure.

Once dry, the individual components were pressed to tank to complete malolactic fermentation.

The components were then racked to the cellar, blended and matured in seasoned hogsheads and foudre for 12 months before being filtered and bottled.

The palate is vibrant and elegant, showcasing a harmony of sweet fruit and savoury structure, enhanced by precise acidity and a textured finish.
