Taste Profile

|

A brilliant and very pale straw colour.

The bouquet is an explosion of fruity and floral notes. Citrus, nectarine, passionfruit and field flowers jump out of the glass. To add a beautiful complexity is a precise minerality on chalky and saline tones.

The palate is fresh, lively, vibrant, with plenty of juicy citrus notes on the attack and a tropical mid-palate. The tension of a zesty acidity and the intensity of primary characters find a perfect synergy. A fine texture, together mineral and herbal hints, defines the lingering finish.

A wine to drink now or age for many years. Energetic and energising.

Vintage Notes

With four months of above average rainfall, no frost nor hail, spring was off to a great start. However, the saturated soils and cooler weather gave rise to slow shoot growth and heighten disease pressures.

By flowering there was a high incident of Downy Mildew throughout the Valley and most of the hills. Fortunately, the disease moved in early, and the compromised bunches and leaf were lost to necrosis.

In December the season was on track with mild ripening weather and dry conditions. This did lead to a two to three week later than average harvest meaning many wines had much lower sugar ripeness and were somewhat riper in tannin with flavours more unique to a cooler vintage.
